Saneamento de Goiás S.A. – Saneago is a Mixed Economy Company established by State Law No. 6.680 dated September 13, 1967. The same Law describes the Company’s purpose: to provide Basic Sanitation services, by concession and associated management. The Company is responsible for conducting studies, preparing projects, carrying out works, operating and practicing the exploitation of Basic Sanitation services.

In addition to operating in the treated water and sewerage operation, services already performed by Saneago, the legislation in question also allows the Company to act in urban cleaning, solid waste management and drainage and urban stormwater management.

On December 11, 2001, the application for registration as a Publicly-Held Company with the CVM – Securities and Exchange Commission of Brazil was granted for trading in the unorganized over-the-counter market for simple non-convertible debentures.

Saneago is present in 223 of the 246 municipalities of Goiás, including the state capital, Goiânia. More than 5,377 employees work at the Company, dividing its workforce between operational and administrative activities.

To meet the state’s 98.21% water supply coverage and 74.51% sanitary sewer, Saneago has 35,683 kilometers of water networks, 210 Water Treatment Plants (WTP), 1,930 reservoir centers, 17,398 kilometers of sewerage system, 90 Sewage Treatment Plants (WWTP). This whole system is organized to serve daily 6,186 million people with treated water and 4,693 million people with sanitary sewer.

The Company continually seeks to improve its operations to achieve its goals while strengthening its financial position. To do so, it has an integrated strategy, which includes the marketing, political-institutional and economic-financial aspects, and consists of:

  • keeping its current customers;
  • expanding its base of operation through new municipal concessions;
  • creating new business in partnership with the private sector;
  • strengthening and institutionalizing the Regional Management System;
  • implementing economic and financial management, focusing on business results;
  • diversifying its sources of financing; and
  • creating shareholder value.
